Trooping the Colour: Princess of Wales makes first public appearance

All of the Princess of Wales' Trooping the Colour looks from across the years

Trooping the Colour, an annual ceremonial parade to celebrate the official birthday of the reigning British monarch, was held in Whitehall on Thursday. This year, the event marked the first public appearance of the Princess of Wales since the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations in June.

For her first appearance at Trooping the Colour, the Princess of Wales chose a white Alexander McQueen dress with a tailored bodice and pleated skirt. She paired the look with a Philip Treacy hat and carried a black clutch bag. The dress was reminiscent of the one worn by her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana, to the same event in 1981.

The Princess of Wales has attended Trooping the Colour on several occasions since her marriage to Prince William in 2011. In 2019, she wore a blue Catherine Walker dress and matching hat. In 2018, she chose a pink Alexander McQueen dress with a matching hat and clutch bag. And in 2017, she wore a white Dolce & Gabbana dress with a matching hat and clutch bag.

Trooping the Colour is a spectacular event that showcases the pageantry and tradition of the British monarchy. It is also a chance for the public to catch a glimpse of the royal family. The Princess of Wales' appearance at the event was met with much anticipation and excitement.
