Former Arsenal and Everton striker Kevin Campbell has died aged 54 after a short illness, the Premier League clubs announced on Saturday.

Campbell, who played for Arsenal from 1988 to 1995 and Everton from 1995 to 1999, scored 93 goals in 318 appearances in all competitions.

He was part of the Arsenal team that won the First Division title in 1990-91 and the FA Cup in 1993.

After leaving Arsenal, Campbell joined Everton, where he scored 47 goals in 138 appearances.

He also played for Nottingham Forest, Leicester City, Trabzonspor and Cardiff City before retiring in 2005.

Campbell was a popular figure at both Arsenal and Everton, and tributes have been paid to him from across the football world.

"Kevin was a great character and a gentleman," said former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger.

"He was a very good striker, with great technique and a good eye for goal."

"We are all very saddened by the news of Kevin's passing," said Everton manager Frank Lampard.

"He was a great servant to our club and a popular figure among our fans."

Campbell is survived by his wife and three children.
